This book is poweful and moving. Read it. Then read Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. Then read A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. Then watch Slumdog Millionaire. Then watch City of God. Then read The End of Poverty by Jeffrey Sachs.
If that doesn't make you want to change the world, nothing else will.

Three Cups of Tea is one of the best I've read this year. It is amazing what Greg and his team are doing over there. I will put the others on my list for sure.
i was super-disappointed with three cups of tea. greg's work is amazing, but i just couldn't get into his writing. which might qualify me as heartless.
i'm totally on board with you about a long way gone, though. living in a world without poverty (muhammad yunus) also rocks my change the world list.
You left out the step about getting on the plane and going to see it for yourself.
